FAQs
Can you really help me?
Yes. If you’re feeling worn out, tired of repeating the same patterns over and over again, depressed, anxious, bad about yourself, stuck in a bad relationship, violated, sorrow due to grief, or betrayed, I’m your girl. If you’ve realized that your childhood wasn’t so great due to the memories of abuse, that’s my specialty. Call me and we’ll set up a time to discuss your pain. If after we meet, you want to keep searching, I’ll be happy to give you some referrals.
How does therapy work?
Having unconditional and positive regard from another person is transformational. If you knew you would be accepted no matter what, how would that strengthen you to take the risks you need to live the life you want? If you knew that you were liked, regardless of what you confessed, what could you accomplish? The answer is, “SO MANY THINGS!” And that’s what I offer to all of my clients.
On top of that, I offer them the knowledge and experience to see patterns in their lives and break cycles that have been repeated over and over again that they couldn’t see because they were too close to it. Once our awareness grows, we can begin to change our lives for the better.
You and I will talk every time we meet and dig around for those things that make life difficult. We’ll remove them like the weeds that they are and strengthen you to grow. I’ll use what I’ve learned (like CBT, Psychodynamic theory, Guided Imagery, and Narrative therapy) to help you.
How long will this take?
How often do I need to come?
Can I come more than once per week?
Coming more than once per week can be beneficial for those feeling overwhelmed by the intensity of their emotional pain who want to be sure to have enough time to talk about the deeper issues rather than merely what happened since the last session. More traction can be gained this way, especially at the beginning. Frequency often depends on if you use your insurance or not. Insurance companies have limits and expectations for services that they are paying for. They often ask for detailed information if someone is regularly attending therapy more than once per week. However, if you decide to not use your insurance, coming twice per week is an option.
What about payment?
The value of transformation doesn’t have a dollar sign until you realize how much you’re saving by taking care of your emotional health. When you do this, your physical health begins to improve. Less doctor visits. Less medication for things like blood pressure, pain, and sleep. Less money spent on junk food because you’re not feeding your feelings. The cost of therapy is an investment in your most valuable asset: YOU. You are worth $110 per session or the use of your BCBS PPO insurance. You matter.
Can you see my kids, too?
No. Currently I see adults 21 years old and up. But I am connected with other therapists near me who do see children and do a great job at it. I think your whole family deserves the best care possible and “just any old therapist” won’t do.
Let me know if you need the contact information for therapists who see children.
